The simplest way to cope with unattributed items is to create a collection in the name of your society. If specific items can be identified as having come from one source, although the source is unknown, these `donations’ should be given individual accessions within the society’s collection. If individual donations cannot be identified but items are `grouped’, such as photographs of your village, Church magazines, or objects (such as flints, coins, etc.) each group is given an individual accession within the society’s collection. Ideally a single accession would not contain hundreds of mixed items, however Community Chest allows for such an entry, which can then be reorganised into specific groups at a later date.
